More than 684 kilogrammes of food were destroyed by the Health Inspectorate Service in April.

These included more than 600 kilogrammes of expired goods, 47 kilogrammes of improperly labelled food, 11 kilogrammes of eggs and just under five kilogrammes of frozen poultry marketed as fresh.

The department said it issued nine contraventions, six of which were food related.

No food businesses were closed down or served with emergency control orders.
