Birkirkara-based Hawk Aerospace has taken part in Marcus Evans' second annual flight operations excellence trade event and conference in Amsterdam. The company was also a corporate event sponsor, along with other industry leaders like Aeroconseil, OSYS, Info Trust and Open Airlines.

The event brought together international industry players and experts to discuss key operational and technical strategies to gain fuel efficiency, optimise cost, and improve flight operations management. The industry's best known names presented best practices and methodology to assess, implement, monitor and improve fuel efficiency measurements, sustainability and overall flight operations.

Hawk Aerospace exhibited its range of proven solutions, the Hawk Knowledge portal and operational support systems. These solutions have been used by leading aviation companies in Malta for several years.

"The event allowed us to open doors and served as a good platform to enter new markets to provide our solutions abroad," Hawk Aerospace chief executive Roger Archer said. "As a result of the event and contacts made, we are looking at enhancing our portfolio of high-end technology and ICT solutions with foreign partners."

Delegates were mainly from various airlines, predominantly based in Europe. Most of the participants were operations executives or their equivalent ranks from airlines that included Lufthansa Cityline, TUIFly, Corsair and a host of small to medium airlines.

The conference also focused on the repercussions and requirements of the new legal Emissions Trading System, which is to be implemented this year and will be enforced in its entirety by 2012. It aims at reducing CO2 emissions.
