Winter brings in the chills and thrills of the season and the best way to get into the festive spirit is to slink into trendy haute couture. Red, green and black are always the hot favourites for the Christmas season, and based on yearly trends, here are 5 smashing outfit ideas for this time of year:

A warm red turtle neck knee length dress
Bring out your fashionable side with this passionate number. If you are young, single and sexy, it is a sure shot way to ensure that you will be discovered. Getting into shape beforehand could be an added bonus but at this time of year, not absolutely necessary. Wear black net stockings with low black heels and to avoid the school mam look, get your hair styled and curled. Walk in confidence with a clutch bag - follow Victoria Beckham or Katie Holmes if you can't decide which one to go for.

Gold will dominate the fashion trends
Its party time and there will be nothing like wearing a shimmering gold sequins dress. With puff sleeves and minimal jewellery, the ensemble will present a chilled bold look - combination that will make heads turn your way. Haute couture collections, the world over, are featuring the yellow metallic look because it coincides with the Chinese new year of the Ox. So wear a gold mini dress, or an off shoulder evening gown for a formal event this Christmas. If you don't really like the entire gold look, just opt for chunky gold jewellery and that should do the trick.

Single shoulder wrap-around dress
Of course, if you don't show off the sculpted collar bone at the year end party, then when and where else will you? Flaunt your lovely skin and well toned muscles with an electric blue one shoulder wrap dress. Walk in with a grey clutch bag and seize the moment. This type of dress is not very difficult to buy off the rack and if you can walk straight on them don't forget to wear stilettos to make you look super confident.

Green and gold look
A flared green and gold dress in satin and silk combination is also getting thumbs up for this season. Top it with a red FAKE fur and red shoes, and you'll be the talk of the town (in a good way) for months to come.

Monochrome look
Although gold will be the colour to wear this season, a short black number is an eternal classic. Always handy and always safe, if nothing else works, if you're not in the mood of experimenting and risking dropped jaws, then this is your safest bet.
