Anyone walking past Harrods in Knightsbridge on Friday would have noticed the Maltese flag flying from the imposing London department store in honour of President George Abela's visit to the UK.

Dr Abela and his wife were visiting Maltese patients in London hospitals prior to the Malta Community Chest Fund's campaign to raise funds for L-Istrina.

The Maltese High Commissioner in the UK, Joseph Zammit Tabona, approached Harrods owner Moha-med Al Fayed, who was only too pleased to fly the Maltese flag at his establishment.

It was the first time the Maltese flag was flown over the department store.
