Force India driver Adrian Sutil set the fastest speed in Formula One's second practice session on Friday, displacing McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who was fastest in the morning.

In the morning, world champion Hamilton lapped the Monza circuit near Milan in one minute 23.936 with McLaren using their KERS energy recovery system to good effect in a one-two at the top of the timesheets.

Hamilton's team mate Heikki Kovalainen was second quickest. 0.396 slower, on a bright and sunny morning session in the former royal park.

Sutil was third for Force India but in the afternoon bettered Hamilton's time for 1 minute 23.924

Giancarlo Fisichella put Force India on pole at the Belgian Grand Prix last week and finished second. He now drives for Ferrari and was last in the second practice session but eighth in the morning.

Championship leading Braun and Red Bull were both in the lower half of the tables in the two practice sessions. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) was eighth for Ferrari.
