Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton took his first pole position of the season at the European Grand Prix in an all-McLaren front row today.

The 24-year-old Briton, winner of the previous race in Hungary, took his 14th career pole ahead of Finnish team mate Heikki Kovalainen.

Brawn GP's championship leader Jenson Button qualified fifth, with closest title rival Mark Webber starting in ninth place for Red Bull.

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, in a Brawn, shared the second row with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari stand-in Luca Badoer qualified a distant last.
