Insurers are still counting the cost of last week's hailstorm.
Gasan Mamo Insurance said that by Monday it had received more than 300 claims on cars damaged by hail and the cost is expected to exceed €400,000.
Other firms said it was still too early to calculate the cost.
Francis Valletta, general manager of Gasan Mamo’s Motor Division said hail damage was covered by comprehensive insurance. He said alternative repair methods that were speedier but did not require the repaired parts to be repainted were being assessed.
Gasan Mamo also received 56 non-motor claims for damage, costing about €55,000.
Middlesea Insurance confirmed last week that it had received “a number” of claims on property and vehicles damaged by the hailstorm.
