Justin Haber has joined Hungarian club Ferencvaros on loan until December, Sheffield United announced yesterday.

The Malta goalkeeper, who is in his second season with the Championship side, was expected to challenge for the no.1 jersey at Bramall Lane after regular no.1 Paddy Kenny had failed a dope test in July.

However, this week manager Kevin Blackwell decided to extend Mark Bunn's on-loan deal from Blackburn Rovers until January and send Haber to Ferencvaros where he is expected to be given the chance of playing first-team football this season.

"There is no doubt that Justin has worked very hard in training and matches over here and his handling, kicking and athleticism have improved tremendously," Blackwell was quoted as saying.

"But getting games has been difficult and playing regularly is vital for him. In Hungary he will get match practice, at the right level, with a big club. His performances will be monitored and assessed by our coaches so he could be brought back during the January transfer window."

On Wednesday, Haber was in Sheffield United's starting formation for a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago U-20.

Haber is not the only player to leave Bramall Lane this week as Sheffield United also agreed to let Australian midfielder David Carney join Dutch side FC Twente on a permanent deal.
