Justin Haber made his first appearance for his new club Sheffield United on Friday night when coming on as a second half substitute in the 2-2 draw against Non-League club Alfreton.

The Malta goalkeeper, who this week signed a two-year contract with the Championship side, was introduced at the start of the second half by coach Kevin Blackwell with the Blades leading 2-1.

The former Haidari FC goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent Alfreton from netting the equaliser on 54 minutes when Josh Law curled the ball into the far corner of the net.

However, two minutes later Haber displayed his skills when he produced a great reflex block to deny Alfreton striker Davidson who was clean through on goal. No further goals were scored as the two sides settled for a draw.

Carly Barnes, who is acting as agent of Haber, sounded pleased that the Malta goalkeeper had already made his debut for Sheffield United.

"It's great to see Justin has already made his first appearance for the Blades," Barnes told The Sunday Times.

"This is a proud day for me and of course for Maltese football. I have no doubt that there are some exciting times ahead for Justin Haber at Sheffield United."

Yesterday, Haber was not included in Sheffield United's squad that travelled to Huddersfield for another warm-up match.

The Maltese goalkeeper is currently working hard to reach a good level of fitness after starting pre-season with his new club late last week.

Meanwhile, Michael Mifsud has spent the past week training with Coventry City's Academy teams after manager Chris Coleman made it clear that the striker did not form part of his plans for the coming season.

Last week, the Malta international was on the verge of joining fellow Championship side Bristol City but the deal collapsed after manager Gary Johnson said that Mifsud 'was not the right player' for his club.

Mifsud's failure to complete a move to Bristol City did not go down well with Coventry manager Coleman who has refused to recall Mifsud to the first team squad and has informed him that he will continue training with Coventry's U-18 side until he finds a new club that is ready to pay the transfer fee asked by the Sky Blues and the wage demands of the player.
