The GWU expressed confidence today that the revised citizenship scheme will be beneficial for the country.

The union welcomed the government;s announcement that some of the funds raised from the scheme will be used for economic development, job creation, education, health, research and innovation.

It said the scheme was expected to attract high value people who could potentially invest in various sectors of the Maltese economy.

Meanwhile, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association said that while it was good for the country to seek alternative sources of finance, Malta would suffer if local political disagreements ended up in the international level. It urged the politicians to continue to seek consensus.
