The GWU said today that it will be vigilant to ensure that the new government keeps its electoral promises.

In a statement, the union said it would be careful to avoid a situation of what happened after the 2008 general election, when promises many to many workers, about job security were not kept.

Among these workers were those employed in public transport, Air Malta, the dockyard and Go who had received a personalised letter from the PN leader assuring them of their jobs.

The union also appealed to all eligible voters to do their duty on Saturday and to vote in the interests of their country.
