The GWU’s Maritime and Aviation Section has registered an industrial dispute with Air Malta following the management’s decision to extend by one month the contract of work of a number of loaders.

Section secretary Jeremy Camilleri informed Air Malta of the GWU’s objections and said the union was not accepting situations where contracts of work be extended monthly.

As Air Malta did not reply to the GWU’s objections, the union registered an industrial dispute.

It said it would take appropriate actions at the right moment unless Air Malta remedied the situation.

The union said it remained committed to fight precarious work, not least in the national airline.
