Arms employees have been ordered by their union not to process Enemalta applications.

The General Workers' Union said in a statement the action was being ordered because of a lack on agreement on work which used to be done by Enemalta employees.

It said that on Sunday and in the following days, Enemalta had adverts saying that applications were to start being processed by Arms. But the union was never officially informed of this and neither was it consulted.

Moreover, the Water Services Corporation employees working at Arms were already under a lot of pressure to keep up with the number of clients and complaints.

In the past year these workers were much more flexible and customer care employees were service more than 300 clients a day.

The number of clients was now being increased leading to longer waiting periods by the public.
