The GWU is calling on the government to submit quarterly reports to the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) on the implementation of the measures announced in the Budget.

The proposal was made in a letter which union general secretary Tony Zarb wrote today to MCESD chairman Sonny Portelli.

He said the government should report to the council every three months on job creation, aid to industry, infrastructural investment, consumer and environmental protection, among other subjects.

In this way, the social partners could be better able to monitor the implementation of the Budget measures.

He augured that the other social partners would back the proposal.
