The General Workers' Union will be taking part in the airline pilots protest on Friday, but not in the strike should this be held on Saturday, general secretary Tony Zarb said this morning.

In a statement, Mr Zarb reiterated his appeal to all sides to find a solution to the situation by Wednesday to avoid the strike action.

He said that at no point during yesterday's press conference given by the four unions representing workers at Air Malta did he say that the airline's CEO, Peter Davies, was not in Malta for four days a week.

During this news conference, organised by the Forum, Forum President John Bencini said that Mr Davies is not in Malta Fridays to Mondays.
