A 33-year-old man was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €200 (Lm85.83) after he pleaded guilty to insulting two local wardens when they were serving him with a parking ticket.

Joseph Debono from Qormi also admitted to resisting the local wardens and being in possession of a firearm on Monday at about 5.45 p.m.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti heard Mr Debono admit that on Tuesday afternoon he insulted and engaged in an argument with two local wardens and was particularly verbally aggressive towards the female warden.

Defence counsel Arthur Azzopardi said the female warden was also to blame as she was particularly arrogant when giving Mr Debono the ticket and in fact that is why his client's anger was directed at her.

He asked the court to take into consideration the fact that Mr Debono has a clean conduct sheet and that the firearm in question was left in the car and never used.

Police Inspectors Marisa Camilleri and Anthony Cachia prosecuted.
