Former President Guido de Marco has been discharged from Mater Dei Hospital, having made a very good recovery following his recent complications.

He will continue to be monitored closely by the medical team.

Prof de Marco was placed under intensive care on Thursday after he developed complications just before an angioplasty to widen an obstructed heart artery.

Before leaving Mater Dei Hospital, President Emeritus de Marco thanked the hospital staff for their dedication and professional care. He remarked that it was thanks to the efficiency of the medical team at Mater Dei that he was able to look forward to being with his family and the people so dear to him.

He also thanked the authorities, the media, and the public for the outpour of solidarity towards him and his family.

Prof de Marco said that the words of encouragement and support he received had strengthened his spirits and determination in the difficult moments.
