Talks are currently in progress by the Ministry of Social Policy, the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities and the Attorney General to decide whether the government should keep working on a Bill regarding the guardianship of persons with disabilities. Answering a parliamentary question by Justyne Caruana (PL), Social Policy Minister John Dalli said the talks were taking into consideration such factors as the need for a new law on mental health and the obligations that Malta would shoulder once it r atified the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.
