Large firms which consume more than 2GWhr of electricity per year are to be given fiscal incentives to encourage them to invest in clean energy generation, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech announced in the Budget speech today. The incentives he said, will cost the government €3 million over three years.

He said the government is increasing the line vote for industry and investment promotion to €14.2 million.

He said that over the past three years, some 2,000 companies per year benefited from around €197 million in incentives.
