More than 200 elderly people completed a university course last year and more than 700 took up a study programme.
The graduating group recently received a participation certificate from Education Minister Dolores Cristina and Parliamentary Secret-ary for the Elderly Mario Galea.
Mr Galea described the University of the Third Age as a “fresh wave” for older people who want an extra challenge.
They are “citizens of the global village”, he said, as they own mobile phones, chat online and use Skype to call grandchildren.
