The first night shelter service for the elderly in Gozo was launched by Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Justyne Caruana at a visit to Dar Padova in Għajnsielem.

Works to adapt this venue to cater for the elderly have been concluded and a total of 12 people will be benefiting from this service.

Dr Caruana said that the service had been made available through an agreement between the government and the Church following an invitation that was issued by the Parliamentary Secretariat for collaboration between the two entities.

This venue will be providing facilities including a library, a kitchen and living area, a spacious internal courtyard and a garden.

Applications for the night shelter services are available from Ċentru Servizz Anzjan, Valletta, or by downloading them from the official website, www.activeageing.gov.mt.
