Gozo’s National and Regional Festivities Committee is celebrating Republic Day tomorrow with the presentation of white gold lapel pins depicting the coat of arms of the Republic.

Chairman Committee Mgr Joe Vella Gauci, who is Malta’s ambassador to Unesco, this morning they presented the pins to Speaker Anglu Farrugia and Opposition leader Simon Busuttil in Parliament in the presence of Gozitan school children.

The pin was yesterday presented to Gozo Minister Anton Refalo and is tomorrow being presented to President George Abela during an annual Republic Day reception at the Gozo Ministry.

It will be presented to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat later.

Charles Hili said that the committee came up with the lapel pins idea because it wanted to leave a legacy.
