Gozo bishop Mario Grech has presented €20,000 to Dar tal-Providenza.
The cheque was presented to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of the home for the handicapped. The sum was collected during the RTK4 Charities Open Day that is organized annually at the Home in Siggiewi on New Year's Day by Radio RTK. Mgr Grech visited the Home and met the residents and care workers.
The Bishop also found time to chat with youths who are preparing for the Volleyball Marathon that is being organized as a fund raiser for the Home. Bishop Grech said that in a society that is becoming more and more individualistic it is heartening to see so many of the younger generation engaging in the voluntary gesture that should be applauded and encouraged. He urged all Maltese and Gozitans alike to continue to sustain the Home and its noble mission.
During the visit, Bishop Grech was accompanied by Fr Michael Borg, Director of the office for the Promotion of the Human Person of the Diocese of Gozo and Fr Eddie Zammit, his personal assistant.
