The Health Ministry said today that as from November, blood donations in Gozo will be received on alternate Sundays in the outpatients' department of Gozo Hospital, but no donations will be received during weekdays.

Approximately 10% of all the blood donated in the Maltese Islands is donated by donors in Gozo.

Just three or four donors per day call on working days, compared to about 50 in Sunday sessions which are presently held once every month.

The ministry said there are plans for blood donation services to operate from a new site in Gozo, with the present site earmarked for other purposes.
