Residents of several localities in Gozo were without power last night - for several hours in some cases - because of a cable fault.

Enemalta said the fault developed at about 10.30 p.m. between Sannat and Fontana causing a power cut in parts of Sannat, Xewkija, Victoria, Xlendi, Munxar and Fontana.

Supply started to be restored at around 00:30 and by 1:40, Sannat, Xewkija and Victoria were re-energized through an alternative supply.

The corporation said that while inspecting the overhead lines to restore supply to the other localities, Enemalta employees noticed a high tension pole leaning towards a low tension cable.

They repaired the pole early this morning and supply was fully restored at 8 am.

Enemalta apologized  for any inconvenience caused.
