A 26-year-old man, David John Buttigieg of Qala, has been jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of trafficking and possession of 200 ecstasy pills in 2006.

The court heard how he had been found with the drugs while boarding the Gozo ferry with a friend. The accused had paid Lm650 for the pills and testified that he had also told the supplier to get another Lm200 for his friend.

In all the police found 200 pills on each man.

Testifying Dr John Borg said that the man was suffering from psychosomatic problems as he had been abandoned by his mother.
