A 63-year-old man from Marsalforn this afternoon pleaded not guilty to murdering John Spiteri when he ran him over with his vehicle last Wednesday.

John Spiteri, 54, from Marsalform was allegedly run over by Gerald Galea, the accused, after the two came to blows over the pruning of trees in a public car park in Qbajjar, limits of Marsalforn.

Mr Galea was this afternoon also charged with the attempted murder of Mr Spiteri’s son Matthew Joe, damaging a Daihatsu owned by Joseph Hili, damaging an Isuzu Van owned by the victim and driving dangerously.

Mr Galea did not request bail and was remanded in custody.
