A group of 31 students from Sir Michelangelo Refalo sixth form, Victoria, became the first school to visit the new parliament building in Valletta.

Speaker Anglu Farrugia spoke about the building’s unique features, Parliament’s functions and its significance in representing the people’s will and strengthening democracy in Malta. He also fielded questions and led the students on a tour of the premises.

The visit was held on the initiative of the school’s Systems of Knowledge department and the students were accompanied by headmaster Daniel James Cassar and the school’s subject teachers.

As a token of appreciation and to commemorate the visit Cassar presented the Speaker with a painting of Valletta by artist and art lecturer Mark Sagona, who is also a member of the school’s Systems of Knowledge department.
