The FKNK hunters' federation said today that it was again backing an independent study of the migration of turtle coves and quails, commissioned by the government.

The study will be carried out by Ecoserv Ltd, which will monitor migration during the spring hunting open season.

"For the fourth year in succession, the study enjoys the full support of the Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (FKNK), which believes that it is of the utmost importance that such studies continue on a regular basis since it is the only manner by which there could be an unbiased scientific accountability of the migratory trends of these species," the federation said.

It regretted that BirdLife Malta had refused participation.

The FKNK urged members who would like to participate in the study  to contact Ecoserv Ltd.
