The government should stop manipulating the Department of Information (DOI) and instead use it for its intended purpose of sharing information with the public, the Opposition said this morning.

Nationalist MP Clyde Puli said the government was issued statements through the DOI to attack members of the Opposition. Last month, he said, over eight statements issued by the DOI included attacks on the Opposition.

“There is no other democratic country that uses a government department, like the DOI, which is paid for by tax-payers, to attack the Opposition,” Mr Puli said.
