The government was this afternoon urged to take the opportunity of the bus service changes to ensure that the bus fleet uses environmentally-friendly auto gas.
The appeal was made by Liquigas CEO Roberto Capelluto during the inauguration of the third autogas fuelling station in Malta. The station is at Wembley's in St Andrew's.
The other stations are at MIA and between Mosta and Rabat. The next station will be in Gozo.
Mr Capelluto said using gas was cheaper and cleaner than other fuels. He said that some 450 cars have been converted to use gas since the launch of autogas in Malta in May 2012.
A government €200 grant scheme to assist users convert their vehicles to use gas has been extended to the end of this year.
