Amendments to the law proposing that Forum gets its much anticipated seat on the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development are to be moved in Parliament on April 23.

The amendments will also be proposing representation for Gozo and civil society.

In a statement this evening, the government said the amendments were the result of a natural development in the widening of social dialogue the MCESD was going through.

This had included the setting up of a committee for civil society in 2008 and the regional committee for Gozo. Both committees had worked hard over the years.

In the meantime, the committee on the restructuring of the MCESD will continue with its work and other proposals for changes in the operations of the council were expected.

Proposals agreed upon within the working group would be considered by the government for inclusion with the amendments.
