The Foreign Ministry has renewed its advice against all travel to Libya.
In a statement this afternoon, the ministry said that in view of the recent escalation in the intensity of military activity in Libya, including Mitiga airport and Misrata airport, it was reiterating its travel advice issued in August against all forms of travel to Libya.
Earlier today two crew members were killed when unidentified military aircraft bombed a Greek-operated oil tanker anchored at the Libyan port of Derna.
Turkish Airlines, the only foreign airline still operating to Misrata, also announced it was suspending flights to that airport.
Two days ago, 13 Egyptian Coptic Christians were kidnapped in Sirte, adding to seven who went missing the previous week.
