Former members of the Labour Party and the General Workers Unions were being preferred by the government because they formed part of the inner circle, the Nationalist Party said.

It referred to a story in The Sunday Times of Malta which stated that a group of Labour backbenchers would be pocketing an extra €1 million during this legislature, over and above their normal parliamentary salaries and noted that before the last election, the Labour Party had promised a "Malta for all".

But in just one year of government, Malta had become just for the inner circle with the rest of the people having to be satisfied with 2c.

While the number of young people who were not working, studying or training had increased to 5,800 in just one year, young people from the inner circle who had been with the Prime Minister in the Forum Żgħażagħ Laburisti had been given jobs, appointments or highly paid consultancies with luxurious allowances.

Even former party officials such as Jason Micallef and Jimmy Magro were gobbling while the deputy leader Toni Abela was earning thousands of euros from government consultancies. The same privileges applied to GWU officials and former officials, the PN said.
