The Labour Government was leading the country in the right direction with positive and pro-active policies based on the principles of a stronger and fairer Malta and it was acquiring results, the Labour Party said.

It said in a statement that these results were instilling confidence among the people and businesses.

In the employment sector, Malta had the fourth lowest rate of unemployment among EU countries. And while the average unemployment rate of euro zone countries was 11.6 per cent, the average in Malta was 6.3 per cent. Youth unemployment was going down with the average being 14.5 per cent against the euro zone average of 23.6 per cent.

Other positive results were acquired in tourism with a nine per cent increase in arrivals and a three per cent increase in expenditure being recorded in the first nine months of the year.
