A project which will see social housing apartments built in 11 localities was started today when workers started excavation works in Zebbuġ.

Social Solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia said eight apartments and semi-basement garages will be built in Zebbuġ. The works are due for completion early next year.  

Works will also start shortly on a site in Attard followed by works in Siġġiewi, Żurrieq, Kirkop, Naxxar, Cospicua, Msida, Birkirkara, Luqa, and Qrendi. The works will start by June.

Dr Farrugia said the government was thus honouring its promise to tackle the problem of social housing.
