Malta last year had the second lowest annual rate of inflation registered in nearly 20 years - 0.8 per cent, the government said.

It said in a statement it was only in 2007 that the country had a slightly lower inflation rate of 0.7 per cent.

The average rate of inflation under the previous administration, the government said, was 2.8 per cent reaching 3.2 per cent in the government’s final year.

Inflation, the government had, had been kept low for the second consecutive year. It was one per cent in 2013.
