With reference to the article ‘Over €3.2m in government consultancies in one year’, the Ministry for Gozo wishes to clarify the following.
Contrary to the impression given to readers, that these consultancies were dished out to Labour officials exclusively, it is pertinent to point out that more than half of the amount quoted as consultancies give by the Ministry for Gozo went to such entitities as Martin Xuereb & Associates, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Grant Thornton Consulting Ltd.
When one delves into the figures, one can clearly notice that €74,000 are to be paid to Martin Xuereb & Associates, an architectural firm awarded a contract relative to the Gozo Citadel project before 2012.
Another €40,427 were paid to PriceWaterhouse Coopers and a further €8,850 were forked out to Grant Thornton in connection with studies relative to the rural airfield being planned.
