The government has expressed concern at the recent violent incidents between Israel and Gaza and unreservedly condemned all forms of violence.

In a statement it said it believed that violence would not find solutions but create wider circles of revenge and retribution leading to more hatred, sorrow and crime.

While understanding and feeling the frustration and desperation of a people who were being denied their land and the enjoyment of their fundamental freedoms, it also understood the fears and sense of persecution felt by a people that felt that its existence was threatened.
