Maltese snooker players Simon Zammit, Alex Borg and Duncan Bezzina, taking part in the 2003 European Snooker Championships in Bad Wildungen, Germany, yesterday registered impressive victories.

In Group A, Zammit beat Rune Kempe of Denmark 4-1 to maintain his 100 per cent record - three wins from three matches. David John of Wales also notched three victories but has conceded one defeat.

Borg, in Group D was the winner of a close tie with Germany's Kurt Stock 4-3 and now has four victories out of four matches.

Bezzina beat Hungary's Laszlo Penzes 4-0. He is leading Group F with three wins out of four matches, together with Roy Stolk of Holland (three out of four) and Brynyar Valdimarsson of Iceland (three out of three).

Bjorn Haneever of Belgium compiled the maximum break of 147 in his match against Rafal Jewtuch of Poland.
