We refer to a complaint by Claire Baron Bello of Msida (May 1) regarding the late delivery of mail.

It might interest the correspondent and The Times readers to know that our national performance during April 2008, as measured by a Malta Communications Authority approved independent consultant, stood at 98.3 per cent. This means that 98.3 per cent of all letters posted during this period were delivered on the following working day.

However, despite the excellent delivery results registered during this period, the possibility will always exist that some items might slip through the net and end up being unduly delayed.

In the circumstances, Maltapost would like to apologise to the correspondent for any inconvenience.
