For the eighth year in a row, my husband and I spent our holidays in Malta last month. We stayed in one hotel for one week and at another (details of both hotels supplied) for the second week. Our stay in the first hotel was excellent, even though we noticed a lack of air conditioners in the foyer and restaurant, which was also the case in most other public places. We depend totally on air con to survive the heat in Malta so that caused problems for us.

As for the second hotel, we were very disappointed with our stay. We found the staff unfriendly and at times downright rude. Apart from the fact that the room was very basic, the shower did not work and we were ignored when we complained.

Then a pair of brand new shoes went missing from my room. They had been bought that day and after searching everywhere I informed the management; again I was ignored! This hotel is registered as four-star. Well, I would strongly dispute that!

We fell in love with Malta eight years ago and with the people. My daughter and her fiancé were on their third visit this year and we hope to return. It is such a pity to come across such bad service. We even overlooked the annoying jellyfish but not the rudeness we encountered at that hotel. Its back to the first hotel for year nine !
