Da Vinci Hospital in Birkirkara has opened a new state-of-the-art dental clinic which, it hopes, will  attract international patients. The project is part of a significant investment and expansion project.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Health Minister Joe Cassar and President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami toured the hospital this morning, saying this sort of  investment helped create jobs and improve the quality of life.

Dr Gonzi added that the Maltese people should be proud of the healthcare offered in Malta, in both the public and private sectors.

“We believe in choice,” he said, adding that the government would continue to invest and partner with the private sector in various aspects.

Dr Gonzi praised owner Pierre Vassallo for his enthusiasm and investment, which saw a small radiology clinic turn into a fully-fledged hospital since 2000.

Meanwhile, Dr Vassallo spoke about the various state of the art MRI and CT scanners which the hospital invested in during the past few years.

Birkirkara mayor Michael Fenech Adami and MP Francis Zammit Dimech also attended the event.

Dr  Gonzi refused to take questions about last night’s developments.
