The Prime Minister is increasingly finding himself in "a precarious" situation over the oil scandal, according to Joseph Muscat.

Referring to an email exchange in which a rogue oil trader claimed to have met Transport Minister Austin Gatt, Dr Muscat said Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi had a lot to answer after standing by his minister.

The Labour leader insisted that Dr Gonzi had not yet answered the important question whether he had been informed in the past about corruption allegations surrounding the buying of oil at Enemalta.

He said Dr Gonzi had a duty to give clear answers that were not yet forthcoming.

Speaking at a Labour event for young people in Sky Club, Paceville tonight, Dr Muscat said his deputy Louis Grech's role will be to coordinate the implementation of the Labour manifesto by the different ministries.

A Labour government will ensure ministry targets will be published online to give people the chance to measure accountability, Dr Muscat said.

"This is what we mean by open government," he said, reiterating the attendance of MPs in Parliament will also be available online for public scrutiny.

The Labour leader kicked off the interview by saying that a Labour government will encourage a healthy lifestyle among young people.

He pointed out it was important to wear running shoes - in a jibe referring to comments made about video footage that was carried by timesofmalta.com as part of a feature showing a day in the life of the Labour leader.

Part of the footage showed Dr Muscat while training at a gym. With only part of his black running shoes showing some commentators thought Dr Muscat was still wearing his regular shoes and the the whole affair was just a set up - it was not.

"You do not need to be a professional athlete but it is important to encourage a healthy lifestyle and our roadmap speaks of this but it is important to wear slippers," he said with a smile.

The Labour manifesto pledges incentives to encourage gym membership among other issues.

Addressed by the presenters with his first name, Dr Muscat also spoke of "a listening" administration if Labour is elected to government.

Apart from the studio audience of young Labour activists, few other people attended the event, part of the I'm In campaign organized by the Labour Youth Forum.
