Miroslav Klose's last-gasp winner settled the Rome derby in Lazio's favour this evening after a dour afternoon in which Bologna's 2-0 victory at Novara was the highlight among five goalless draws.

Germany striker Klose, passed fit after shaking off a knee injury, fired home in the third minute of stoppage time to complete a come-from-behind 2-1 win for Edy Reja's side after Hernanes' 50th-minute penalty had cancelled out Pablo Osvaldo's fifth-minute opener.

Roma were down to 10 men for most of the second half after Simon Kjaer was dismissed for the foul which led to the spot-kick award.

The Stadio Olimpico encounter livened up proceedings in Italy after only one of this afternoon's six games produced any goals.

Substitute Gaston Ramirez put Bologna ahead on the stroke of half-time and Robert Acquafresca doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute to move the visitors off the bottom and hand new coach Stefano Pioli a winning start, inflicting a first home defeat on promoted Novara in the process.

Elsewhere, Chievo proved once again to be Juventus' bogey side as they held the Bianconeri to a goalless draw at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Alessandro Del Piero hit the post, but that was as close as the league leaders came on a frustrating afternoon in Verona.

Udinese - behind Juve at the summit only on goals scored - overcame the second-half dismissal of Giampiero Pinzi to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches with a stalemate at Atalanta.

Cagliari climbed two places to third - at the expense of Napoli and Palermo, who both lost yesterday - despite being held at home by Siena.

Bottom-placed Cesena were left still searching for their first win of the season after being held to a scoreless draw by Fiorentina at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

The home side hit the woodwork twice, but were forced to play the last 20 minutes without Adrian Mutu, who was sent off for showing a bit too much zeal against his former team-mates.

Genoa had Kakha Kaladze sent off against Lecce as two of Serie A's out-of-form teams played out a goalless draw at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
