Go's paging service has been terminated following a request from the Malta Communications Authority earlier this year for the company to relinquish the frequency.

Go said that paging has become increasingly irrelevant with the introduction of mobile technology, which allows two-way communication rather than forcing the recepient to seek a telephone in order to get more details from the pager.

The last few remaining pagers were withdrawn from service over the past weeks and the system has now been shut down.
