The share price of GO plc closed 0.5 per cent higher at the €2.05 level on renewed demand for the company’s shares following an announcement issued this morning which replicated the statement made by Forthnet SA.

The Greek company revealed that OTE S.A. (the incumbent telecoms operator in Greece) has submitted a non-binding offer to acquire the NOVA pay-tv platform of Forthnet for a consideration ranging between €250 million to €300 million, on a debt free/cash free basis (i.e. excluding net debt).

The announcement further explains that the offer is based on certain assumptions and is subject to terms and conditions, customary to such transactions.

The board of directors of Forthnet SA noted that it will evaluate the offer and inform the investing public accordingly.

HSBC Bank also trended higher with a 1.4 per cent rise to recapture the €2.05 level across seven deals totalling just over 6,000 shares.

Likewise, the share price of Medserv plc advanced by 4.2 per cent to the €1.25 level on volumes of 27,500 shares.

On the other hand, Malta International Airport plc’s equity shed 0.7 per cent to the €2.27,5 level on low volumes of 8,220 shares. Similarly, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc slumped 3.4 per cent back to the €2.85 level on a small deal of 583 shares.

The only other active equity was Bank of Valletta plc which ended this morning’s session unchanged at the €2.02 level after failing to hold on to an intra-day high of €2.03,5 across 8,000 shares.

On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index trended higher for the ninth consecutive session with a further marginal increase to a new all-time high of 1,055.876 points as Eurozone yields slipped minimally lower to the 1.254 per cent level.
