Glen Vella, Malta’s Eurovision hopeful, will be one of the main guests on Rai Due’s Top of the Pops tomorrow (Saturday) at 2p.m.

The show, a franchise of the original British Top of the Pops, is one of Rai’s - the Italian national broadcaster - most popular music chart television programme and is watched by all generations.

Mr Vella, the only Eurovision song contestant invited on Rai Due’s show, will be performing his entry song One Life – penned by Fleur Balzan and composed by Paul Giordimaina.

This will be an opportunity for Italian viewers to familiarise themselves with Malta’s entry. Since Italy is returning to the Eurovision competition after an absence of 13 years, Italian viewers will be able to vote for their favourite song on the semi-final night of May 10.

Together with France, Germany, the UK and Spain, Italy is one of the five countries which automatically qualified in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, where 25 countries will battle it out for the best song.

However, Malta’s entry will have to make it through the semi-final and Mr Vella will have to place among the top 10, out of 19, to earn a coveted position in the Eurovision final on May 14.
