Maltese Super Street bike racer Simon Giordmaina and his team had an awesome season in 2009 at Santa Pod, United Kingdom. The good results continued this year as a new record was established at a Run What You Bring series, organised recently by the Malta Drag Racing Association at the Raceway in Ħal Far.

Following encouraging times of 8.05 seconds in the Saturday shakedown and improvement on 60ft times during practice runs, the next day Giordmaina scorch-ed down the course in the Super Street semi-final in a record 7.88/184.

He went on to win that final along with the one in Open Bike class with 7.9 seconds to crown a memorable weekend for his team.

"Apart from even better ETs, our ambition for this year is to take part in the FIA Main Event at Santa Pod and the NitrOlympX at Hockenheim, Germany," Giordmaina said in a statement.

"If money wasn't an issue I would say we'd certainly be there, but for now we'll just hope to secure a sound sponsorship to cover our expenses.

"There's so many people I would like to thank for their support, not least my wife Graziella, my brother George, my best mate Richard Demicoli, who helped with all the electronics on the bike and who was there all weekend, the team and Rodney Randich."

"Rodney gave us a helping hand in fitting the engine ahead of the racing series, added Giordmaina.

"Also, I have to say well done to the Malta Drag Racing Association for all their fine work at the Raceway in Ħal Far. The track was well-prepared and the racing weekend was a success for our team from all aspects."
