Young wrestler Gary Giordimainia won a silver medal in an international tournament held in Wolfurt, Austria last weekend.

Competing in the 54kg junior category, Giordimaina, under the guidance of his father Jesmond, started brightly when he defeated France’s Oztur Mohammed Faith 5-3.

Next up for Giordimaina was German Johannes Vogele who provided a stern challenge. A tight bout ensued but it was Giordimaina who prevailed 6-5 to book his place in the final.

In the gold medal match, Giordimaina came up against Switzerland’s Dominik Lartiz.

Lartiz proved too strong for Giordimaina who had to settle for silver as the young Maltese wrestler secured another prestigious result.
